Another cute, "honey" of a planter and includes a clay pot. The original prototype was stained the color of natural cedar (Golden Honey) and my bride nicknamed it the "Honey Pot" because of the honey color. An octagon shaped top was later added (to satisfy my mathematical side) and the planter is designed to accommodate a Standard 8" Pennington Clay Pot with a saucer (included). With the pot, this can be used as an interior or an exterior planter. It has exterior measurements of 11.5" x 11.5" x 10.5" making it suitable for anywhere from floor level to tabletop display. The clay pot has an interior diameter of 7.5” and an interior height of 7.5”.
This planter features:
- A wooden interior that is treated with Eco non-toxic wood treatment. Any wood that might come in contact with the soil is treated in this manner. (The soil would come into contact with the wood if no clay pot is used.)
- All wood is pine. The exterior covering is 1 x 6 pine and the frame is milled from pine 2 x 4’s.
- All exterior cover surfaces are sanded down to 220 grit.
- All exterior screws are covered with handmade, cedar plugs.
- Exposed surfaces have two coats of stain and at least two coats of additional treatments.
- Available exterior finishes are: 1) Natural (No Stain At All), 2) Golden Honey, 3) Rustic Cabin, and 4) Java.
- Exterior cover corners are box joints.
- This planter is suitable for both indoor (with clay pot) or outdoor use.
- This planter is made of wood and will weather when exposed to outside elements. Every effort has been made to make your planter as weather resistant as possible.
Finished in your choice of stain color, this planter adds beauty to the traditional "plant in the clay pot”.

Honey Pot Planter With An Experimental Torched Finish
This Honey Pot Planter is the exact planter that is featured in the video. This is the first planter on which I tried a "Torched" finish using a plumber's torch and then sealing it with varnish. Although the coloring is beautiful it is somewhat inconsistent as the different areas of the planter react inconsistently to the flame. It is still a beautiful planter! Please contact me if you are interested in purchasing this beautiful planter.
